Key Document
The Principal's April 30, 2026 email is the document the rest of this record is read against. It is listed here as Exhibit A-4, shown as sent and quoted below, word for word.
Exhibit A-4: Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi, April 30, 2026, 2:37 PM, "RE: Student Supervision."
What the email says
"Please be advised that assigning manual labor such as gardening or groundskeeping to student assistants is a violation of California Education Code 51228 and AB 1012."
"TAs must not be assigned manual labor or tasks that require them to be outside of your direct, classroom-based supervision. Moving forward, please ensure all TA assignments are instructional in nature and performed within the classroom."
The email speaks to teaching-assistant (TA) assignments. The statutes are cited as they appear in the email; this archive offers no legal opinion on them.
Owner's position
The owner reads this email as a written directive that student work in the garden is manual labor, and that it stood as the operative instruction for student gardening at SECA until rescinded in writing.
According to the owner, no written rescission or clarification of this email has been received to date.
This is the owner's reading, not a finding by any court, agency, or school board. Readers can compare the email with the later entries and decide for themselves.

October 15, 2015 – April 29, 2026Garden Dedication Thru April 29, 2026
Timberwolf Garden was dedicated on October 15, 2015.
According to the owner, student help in the garden has been common practice at SECA throughout this period.
According to the owner, no supervision issues were adjudicated during this period.
The period ends the day before the April 30, 2026 emails listed below.
August 22, 2025Staff Reminder: Student Supervision
Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi to SECA staff, sent Friday, August 22, 2025, 3:12 PM, subject "Student Supervision Reminders."
The email asks staff not to let students into their classrooms to "hang out" if they are not on the roster, and addresses students with Authorized Absence or Plant 14 periods who are on campus. It does not mention the garden.
Mr. Uyeda's April 30, 2026 email (Exhibit A-1) refers back to this directive.
"If a student is on your roster, they must be in your classroom under your supervision. TAs should remain with you to provide support, not wander campus or leave without a pass and supervision."
Owner's position
The owner reads this email as being about students hanging out and TAs wandering. It does not specifically address students doing tasks in their school garden. It is also worth noting that this directive was not enforced against the garden for 8 months following the email.
This is the owner's reading, not a finding by any court, agency, or school board.
Exhibit M-1: Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi to staff, August 22, 2025, 3:12 PM, "Student Supervision Reminders."
April 30, 2026Initial Administrative Email Exchange
Initial email from Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda to Dr. Eayrs (copying Principal DeiRossi), sent 2:03 PM, subject "Student Supervision," regarding student supervision. It describes five students seen outside the classroom at about 1:00 PM, two of them TAs who had been working in the garden, and refers back to the August 22, 2025 directive (Exhibit M-1).
Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi to Mr. Uyeda and Dr. Eayrs, sent 2:37 PM, subject "RE: Student Supervision," stating that assigning manual labor such as gardening or groundskeeping to student assistants violates California Education Code 51228 and AB 1012 (Exhibit A-4). See the Key Document section.
Response by Dr. Ansel Eayrs to Mr. Uyeda (copying Principal DeiRossi), sent 2:44 PM, subject "RE: Student Supervision" (Exhibit A-2). He says the three students in question had volunteered in the garden without being asked, that one went for water near the restroom with his permission, and that they have since lost the privilege of working in the garden during class. He describes a trust-and-privilege approach to supervision, says TAs hold badges that he understood allowed them to carry out duties for his classroom and the garden, and asks for case-by-case evaluation and a conversation.
Follow-up reply from Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda to Dr. Eayrs (copying Principal DeiRossi), sent 3:16 PM (Exhibit A-3). It restates that students on a teacher's roster, including TAs, must be under the teacher's direct supervision during class time, and says the garden work described would be an after-school activity. It acknowledges that TA badges may need broader clarification across campus and says Mr. Uyeda is willing to meet.
Reply by Dr. Eayrs to Principal DeiRossi and Mr. Uyeda, sent 3:16 PM (Exhibit A-5). He cites California Education Code § 51795, says maintaining Timberwolf Garden is written into the Physics Explorers club constitution, says he did not assign labor and that students work voluntarily, and says he will limit the project to after school, when he can be present.
Exhibit A-1: Email from Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda, April 30, 2026, 2:03 PM, "Student Supervision."Exhibit A-2: Email from Dr. Ansel Eayrs, April 30, 2026, 2:44 PM, "RE: Student Supervision."Exhibit A-3: Follow-up email from Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda, April 30, 2026, 3:16 PM.Exhibit A-4: Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi, April 30, 2026, 2:37 PM, "RE: Student Supervision" (also shown in the Key Document section).Exhibit A-5: Reply from Dr. Ansel Eayrs to the Principal and Mr. Uyeda, April 30, 2026, 3:16 PM.
For context, this exchange took place during the expansion of the school's orchard. Many students noticed the work being done and wanted to help.
Dr. Eayrs's reply to Principal DeiRossi (Exhibit A-5) went unanswered.
This is the owner's account, not a finding by any court, agency, or school board.
August 7, 2026August 7th Directive
Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi to Dr. Ansel Eayrs (copying Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda), sent Friday, August 7, 2026, 12:50 PM, following a conversation on August 6, 2026. The email does not mention the garden.
Dr. Eayrs replied Monday, August 10, 2026, 11:29 AM, with the message "Please see attached response." The attached response has its own entry below (August 10, 2026, Exhibit C-2).
"Per our conversation on 8/6/26, please ensure all students listed on your roster are directly supervised at all times. Under California law and district policy, teachers maintain a legal duty of care and standard of supervision for all assigned students throughout the school day."
Exhibit C-1: Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi, August 7, 2026, 12:50 PM, with Dr. Eayrs's August 10, 2026 reply transmitting his response (C-2).
August 10, 2026Dr. Eayrs's Written Response to the August 7 Directive
Two-page letter from Dr. Ansel Eayrs to Principal Kyle DeiRossi dated August 10, 2026, subject "Directive from August 7th, 2026," sent as the attachment to Dr. Eayrs's 11:29 AM reply (see Exhibit C-1, August 7 entry). It copies his union representative, citing the August 6 discussion of potential formal discipline.
Dr. Eayrs states that student access to the garden has been paused under the directive, and logs his disagreement with it. He says it contradicts supervision practices that had administration's approval for over a decade, and that a standard of continuous line-of-sight supervision of every enrolled student is unworkable at a high school. He cites California Education Code §§ 44087, 44807 and 44808 for a "reasonable care under the circumstances" standard.
The letter also objects to student TAs and volunteers being described as doing "assigned labor," citing California Education Code § 51795, which he says recognizes student-supported instructional gardens. It says a requested meeting to find a workable path did not happen.
The letter gives notice that Fall 2026 will be the last growing season Dr. Eayrs oversees the garden. After the current harvest, he says, the planter boxes will be covered and left fallow, and he will no longer maintain them.
"Pursuant to your directive, student access to the garden has been paused. However, I am writing to formally log my disagreement with this decision, as it contradicts standard supervision practices and operational norms that have had the active and tacit approval of administration for over a decade."
"Therefore, I am writing to inform you that Fall 2026 will be the last growing season in which I will oversee it. After the current harvest runs its course, the planter boxes will be covered and left to fallow, and I will no longer maintain them in any way."
Owner's position
Dr. Eayrs's response indicates compliance with the directive.
Site administration did not reply to this formal written response.
The owner reads Exhibit C-2 as Dr. Eayrs's formal written notice to Principal DeiRossi that he is concluding his voluntary, non-contractual oversight of Timberwolf Garden following the Fall 2026 harvest. The owner says he gave three reasons: directives perceived as contradictory, unworkable operational constraints regarding student supervision, and compliance concerns under California Education Code § 51795.
This is the owner's reading, not a finding by any court, agency, or school board. The letter's own words are quoted above, and the full letter can be read below.

October 1, 2026Physics Explorers Club Resolution
Nine-page "Official Statement on Timberwolf Garden" (subtitle "Defending 11 Years of Campus Stewardship") from SECA Physics Explorers, adopted at the club's October 1, 2026 meeting. Page 1 is the statement; pages 2 through 9 are signature pages.
The statement calls Timberwolf Garden the club's flagship project and the longest-running campus beautification project at SECA, and says it has operated for 11 years without a single complaint.
It objects to the new administrative restrictions, including tool-use waivers that single out the garden. It says the club will accept only a school-wide policy applied to all physical activities and tool use across campus.
It rejects limiting student presence in the garden to lunch or after school. It cites California Education Code § 51795 for the garden's place in the learning environment, and says routine garden tasks cannot be squeezed into a 45-minute lunch break or a rushed after-school window.
It states that ratification "effectively pauses all managerial duties related to Timberwolf Garden by Physics Explorers until these terms are met or a satisfactory agreement is reached," and that any disruption to the project rests with administration.
Page 2, "Board Ratification & Adoption by Club," says the statement was adopted by unanimous vote of the Physics Explorers board and general membership, certified and approved by club members in attendance on October 1, 2026. It carries signatures from club officers, ASB officers and members. Pages 3 through 9 carry additional signatures collected as a petition of support from members of the student body.

Three student leaders spoke before the school board to protest recent administrative restrictions placed on SECA’s Timberwolf Garden (and "Timmy's Orchard") and to urge the board to protect it.
The summaries below describe what each student said during public comment. They are not a transcript, and the claims are the speakers' own. Student names are omitted. The meeting video is below.
Student 1 (ASB President)
Background & value: Highlighted the garden's 11-year history, noting that ASB has invested over $1,500 since 2015. Emphasized its positive impact on mental breaks and school citizenship, and its integration into required courses.
School board & compliance: Pointed out that California Education Code § 51795 recognizes the legal benefits of school gardens. Argued that the administration is non-compliant by restricting access strictly to non-instructional hours.
Refuting administration claims: Countered claims that the garden lacks educational value or poses safety concerns, noting that no injuries have occurred in its 11 years of operation.
Request: Asked the board to place an agenda item on the October 27 meeting to support school gardens as an integrated part of the instructional day.
Student 2 (President, Physics Explorers)
Origins & issues: Stated that Physics Explorers originally founded and managed the garden under their advisor.
Administration pushback: Said the principal recently claimed that student garden work is "illegally assigning labor" and requires tool waivers. The speaker argued that this policy unfairly targets the garden, since other clubs use tools without liability waivers.
Club resolution: Shared that Physics Explorers passed a resolution on October 1 pausing their role with the garden until fair terms are restored (see the October 1 entry, Exhibit F-1). The speaker said the resolution received 255 signatures out of the school's 447 students.
Request: Appealed to the board to pass a resolution protecting Timberwolf Garden from policies that are harming it.
Student 3 (President, Class of 2029)
Legacy project: Explained that the freshman class planted new trees ("Timmy's Orchard") as its legacy project and planned to take annual class photos there through graduation.
Impact of policy: Said that under the current restrictions students cannot water, trim, or tend the trees they planted, forcing them to be "observers of our legacy instead of the stewards."
Request: Asked the board to take action codifying the garden as part of the instructional day, so students can actively maintain their class gift.
Exhibit G-1: Video of the three public comments on Timberwolf Garden at the October 13, 2026 school board meeting. If the player does not load, watch on YouTube.
This entry is the owner's account of a reported concern. It is not a finding. The student involved is not named.
Concerns raised regarding a verbal interaction between administration and a student who gave public comment at the SUSD Board Meeting. Formal complaint filed under Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) guidelines.
The reported concern took place at 10:00 AM on October 15, 2026. This is less than 40 hours after the October 13 Board Meeting, 50 minutes before the 10:50 AM meeting described in the next entry, and one day before the email regarding the letter of warning to Dr. Eayrs.
Relevant law: Education Code § 48950
California Education Code § 48950 protects the free speech rights of students in public secondary schools. It bars a school district from disciplining a student solely because of speech or other communication that would be protected by the First Amendment if it took place off campus.
The report of concern (Exhibit H-1) is being filed separately and is not posted on this site.
October 15, 2026 – 10:50 AMOctober 15 Meeting
Meeting held October 15, 2026. Attendees: Dr. Ansel Eayrs (teacher), Principal Kyle DeiRossi, Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda, and Roselyn Wang (site representative).
Dr. Eayrs emailed Principal DeiRossi a written summary of the meeting the same day, Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 3:32 PM (Exhibit H-2). It was written to document the key points that came up in the meeting.
The meeting began at 10:50 AM. This is a separate event from the reported concern in the previous entry, which took place at 10:00 AM the same morning.
The summary below is Dr. Eayrs's own account of the meeting. Administration's account may differ. The Letter of Warning that followed (see the October 19 entry) gives the administration's account. No summary has been provided by administration or union site representation.
What the written summary says
Response to the August 10 communication: Site administration had received and reviewed Dr. Eayrs's August 10, 2026 written response, and no reply, acknowledgement, or clarification had been provided before this meeting.
"Assigned labor" terminology: Dr. Eayrs says Mr. DeiRossi did not recall characterizing student assistance in the garden as assigned labor. Dr. Eayrs cited the Principal's April 30, 2026 email (Exhibit A-4) and California Education Code § 51795, and reminded him of their August 6 conversation, in which he says the term "assigned labor" was used for TA support in the garden.
Student supervision: Administration noted that students are routinely permitted outside the classroom for short durations, but declined to state a specific time standard or written threshold for what counts as an unpermitted duration.
Status of Timberwolf Garden: Dr. Eayrs clarified that neither he nor the Physics Explorers club has "closed" the garden, since they hold no administrative authority over campus facilities. He says the club voted to step back from active managerial oversight because of newly imposed operational restrictions, and that the garden remains an ASB/district asset.
Student rights and advisory role: Dr. Eayrs confirmed that his guidance to student leaders has been limited to informing them of district policies, ASB bylaws, and their right to petition governing bodies under California Education Code § 48907.
Exhibit H-2: Written summary emailed by Dr. Ansel Eayrs to Principal DeiRossi, October 15, 2026, 3:32 PM.
According to the owner, administration advanced the idea that Dr. Eayrs had told people that administration shut down the garden. He explicitly rejected that claim and said the garden was not shut down; he and the club had stepped away from their managerial duties because of operational constraints.
The owner says administration claimed that students said in a video that administration was shutting down the garden. The October 13 public comment video (Exhibit G-1, in the October 13 entry) is posted so viewers can cross-reference this claim.
The owner says the conversation then moved to garden supervision, even though Dr. Eayrs no longer manages the garden and, under the August 7 directive, had not sent a student into the garden for over 70 days. The conversation persistently shifted toward whether or not the garden is "closed," which he regards as a matter of semantics. He told administration it could call the garden open or closed as it wished, but that he and Physics Explorers were no longer involved.
There is no available record of Dr. Eayrs saying that anyone has closed the garden. He found the discussion repetitive and unproductive, and asked to adjourn the meeting if administration had nothing else substantive to discuss.
This is the owner's account, not a finding by any court, agency, or school board.
October 16, 2026Email Regarding the Letter of Warning
Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi to Dr. Ansel Eayrs (copying Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda and Roselyn Wang), sent Friday, October 16, 2026, 12:23 PM (Exhibit I-2). It follows the October 15 meeting.
The email says a letter of warning is being issued, says no representative is required unless Dr. Eayrs prefers to have one present, and says a calendar invite will follow for Monday, October 19 at 10:10 AM.
The Letter of Warning itself was hand delivered at that meeting on October 19, 2026. See the October 19 entry for the letter (Exhibit I-1).
"Based on our conversation yesterday, I am issuing a letter of warning regarding the concerns I brought to your attention."
"I will not be asking any further questions, so a representative is not required unless you prefer to have one present."
Owner's position
According to the owner, it was unclear which concerns the email was referring to.
This is the owner's reading, not a finding by any court, agency, or school board.
Exhibit I-2: Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi, October 16, 2026, 12:23 PM.
October 16, 2026Mass Communication to Parents, Students & Staff
Email titled "SECA Garden," sent Friday, October 16, 2026 at 12:25 PM from Principal Kyle DeiRossi's account, addressed to "SECA Students and Families" and signed by Mr. Uyeda and Mr. DeiRossi.
The email states: "administration has not closed the garden, nor have we prohibited students from maintaining it," and "The only restriction in place applies to students performing garden maintenance during class time without appropriate adult supervision."
Exhibit J-1: "SECA Garden" schoolwide email, October 16, 2026, 12:25 PM. Recipient line redacted.
This entry summarizes a document written by SECA administration. The statements in it are the administration's own, and this summary is not a finding by any court, agency, or school board.
Seven-page letter from Principal Kyle DeiRossi to Dr. Ansel Eayrs, dated October 19, 2026, marked "Confidential by Hand Delivery," subject "Letter of Warning and Directives: Timberwolf Garden Supervision and Accurate Communication." It was delivered at a meeting on October 19, three days after the October 16 email (see the previous entry).
The letter says it documents concerns raised at the October 15, 2026 meeting, which Dr. Eayrs attended with his union representative. It says administration told him on April 30, 2026 that student teacher assistants were not permitted to work in the garden during class time without supervision, and that on August 8, 2026 the Principal observed students working in the garden during instructional time without supervision.
It says the garden has not been closed, and that supervised garden activity may take place before school, during lunch, after school, on weekends, and during Friday WIN time. It says administration did not require a garden-specific waiver or permission slip, and describes an earlier waiver mention as a suggestion only.
It says Dr. Eayrs described the directive to students as shutting down the garden, and that the club's October 1 resolution and the October 13 Board comments reflect a misunderstanding of the garden's availability. It cites the district Code of Ethics (SUSD E 4119.21) and Education Code §§ 44807 and 51795. It states that it "does not make a finding" that private advantage or knowing falsity has been established.
It says students have the right to express concerns, disagree with administration, adopt resolutions, and address the Board, and that the letter does not direct Dr. Eayrs to restrict protected speech or to discipline him for supporting it.
Seven directives, effective immediately: explain the garden's status accurately; explain the waiver issue accurately; stop circulating as fact that the garden was closed or that a waiver was imposed; give participating students a factual clarification within three working days; comply with supervision requirements; maintain professional boundaries; and seek clarification promptly.
Administration offers a written summary of garden participation parameters. Dr. Eayrs is asked to submit a proposed schedule and supervisor for each garden activity within five working days, with a follow-up meeting within ten working days.
The letter says failure to comply "may result in disciplinary action," and that it will be held in Dr. Eayrs's working file and not submitted to Human Resources or his personnel file at this time.
Page 7 carries an Acknowledgement of Receipt signed by Dr. Eayrs and dated 10/19/2026. It says he has a right to submit a written response within 10 workdays, to be attached to the notice, and that his signature "acknowledges my receipt of the Notice and not my agreement with its content."
The union's follow-up on directive #4 and the Principal's October 20 written response are in the next entry.
Dr. Eayrs's written rebuttal is listed in its own entry on October 28, 2026.

October 19 – 20, 2026Union Follow-Up and Administration's Written Clarification (Directive #4)
This entry summarizes two emails. The statements in each are the writer's own, and this summary is not a finding by any court, agency, or school board.
October 19: Union representative's follow-up
Email from Freja Nelson (California Teachers Association) to Principal Kyle DeiRossi and Dr. Ansel Eayrs, copying the Stockton Teachers Association president, sent Monday, October 19, 2026, 4:04 PM, subject "Follow up Re: Aeyrs Letter of Warning & Directives." Dr. Eayrs received it as a forward at 4:06 PM (Exhibit I-3).
The email says the union reviewed the hand-delivered Letter of Warning (see the October 19 entry), takes "significant exception to this warning and its contents" on Dr. Eayrs's behalf, and will be disputing the warning.
It responds to time-sensitive directive #4 on page 5 of the letter, which asks Dr. Eayrs to provide Physics Explorers Club members and affected student teacher assistants with a brief clarification of the permitted supervised opportunities and the absence of the asserted waiver mandate.
It asks to coordinate on that directive and offers Wednesday, October 21, from 10:00 AM to noon.
"The union has had an opportunity to read and review the letter of warning you hand delivered today. Please be advised, our union, on behalf of Mr. Aeyrs takes significant exception to this warning and its contents. We will be disputing the warning."
Exhibit I-3: Union follow-up email, October 19, 2026, 4:04 PM, forwarded to Dr. Eayrs.
October 20: Principal's written response
Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi to Dr. Eayrs, copying the STA president, Freja Nelson, Brian Biedermann and Assistant Principal Andres Uyeda, sent Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 1:46 PM (Exhibit I-4).
It acknowledges the request for clarification on item #4 and says that "in lieu of a meeting" administration is providing a written response to minimize miscommunications. It supplies an "approved statement" and asks Dr. Eayrs to distribute it as an administrative clarification to all Physics Explorers Club members, club leadership, and all affected student teacher assistants, whether or not they are club members.
It asks that the statement be read to those groups by October 23, 2026. Afterward, Dr. Eayrs is to confirm in writing to administration when the statement was delivered and to which groups, and to identify any absent students who still need it and when he will provide it.
It says that delivering the clarification "does not constitute agreement with the warning letter or an admission of wrongdoing," and does not require students to retract their views, withdraw their resolution, or refrain from addressing the Board.
It says Dr. Eayrs keeps the right to submit a written response, including any objections to or dispute of the warning letter, within ten working days, and that the response will be attached to and maintained with the warning letter.
The administration-approved statement, as written in the email:
"Administration has clarified that students may participate in Timberwolf Garden activities before school, during lunch, after school, on weekends, and during Friday WIN time, provided appropriate supervision and necessary campus access have been arranged. These opportunities depend on the availability of an approved supervision arrangement."
"Students may not work separately in the garden while their assigned teacher is teaching and supervising another class unless administration has approved an alternative supervision arrangement in advance."
"Administration has not imposed the garden-specific waiver or permission-form requirement discussed in connection with the club's resolution."
Exhibit I-4: Email from Principal Kyle DeiRossi, October 20, 2026, 1:46 PM.
October 20, 2026Parent Letter Regarding Administration's Conduct
This entry summarizes a letter written by a parent. The statements are the parent's own, and this summary is not a finding by any court, agency, or school board. The parent and the student are not named in the summary, and names and contact details are blacked out on the posted pages.
Two-page signed letter from the parent of a student, dated October 20, 2026, addressed "To whom it may concern" (Exhibit N-1).
The parent says she is proud of the students who took part in the October 13, 2026 school board meeting and the petition about Timberwolf Garden. She says she has had several good conversations with her daughter about how the garden will be maintained.
She describes a phone call from Principal DeiRossi on October 16, 2026. She says he told her he had spoken with her daughter about the Board meeting and the garden, and that her daughter needed a moment to step away and the matter might be revisited later.
She says Principal DeiRossi did not tell her that Assistant Principal Uyeda was present for that conversation, or that there was any yelling or raised voices. She says that if she had known Mr. Uyeda was present, she would have told Mr. DeiRossi she was not comfortable with it, citing a past experience with Mr. Uyeda that she describes as a lack of communication.
She says her daughter later told her that both Mr. DeiRossi and Mr. Uyeda raised their voices at her during the meeting, which is why her daughter removed herself from the situation.
She says her biggest fear is retaliation against her daughter and the adults involved, and that it could put her daughter's graduation at risk. She says she had told her daughter to stay out of the adults' business and keep up with school.
She asks that Mr. Uyeda have no involvement with her daughter unless a parent or board member is present.
She says she decided to submit the letter after her daughter told her that a union representative had spoken with her and a few of her peers. She hopes the issue is resolved soon, with proper communication kept up with everyone involved.

Owner's note
The owner posts this letter because it describes the October 16 phone call and the October 15 interaction between administration and a student, which is the subject of the Reported Concern entry.
This is the owner's account, not a finding by any court, agency, or school board.
October 22 – 26, 2026Directive #4 Statement Read to Students; Confirmation and Principal's Reply
The reading log is Dr. Eayrs's own handwritten record. The email is the Principal's own statement. This summary is not a finding by any court, agency, or school board. Student names are blacked out on the posted pages.
The Principal's October 20 email (Exhibit I-4, see the previous entry) asked that the approved statement be read to Physics Explorers members, club leadership and affected student teacher assistants by October 23, 2026, and that Dr. Eayrs confirm in writing when and to whom it was delivered.
Dr. Eayrs read the statement to the students who were available on October 22 and October 23, 2026. He kept a three-page handwritten log (Exhibit I-6). Page 1 is headed "Dr. Eayrs has read the statement clarified in Item #4 to the following students" and records each student's status, date and time. Page 2 continues the list and then records "The following students were unavailable or absent." Page 3 continues with October 23 entries.

Board of Education meeting on October 27, 2026, at the District Board Meeting.
Three-page letter from Dr. Ansel Eayrs, Science Chair at Stockton Early College Academy, to the SUSD Board of Trustees, signed and dated 10/27/2026 and delivered to the Board at the meeting (Exhibit K-2).
The letter says Dr. Eayrs has taught at SECA for more than 16 years, that he and students built Timberwolf Garden eleven years ago, and that students have a right to instructional access to established school gardens under California Education Code § 51795.
It says operational support for the garden program has eroded in recent years, that administration described student garden involvement as "child labor," and that he paused the program to protect his professional standing.
It says the student leaders who addressed the Board on October 13 were later questioned separately by administration, that a parent letter has been submitted to the trustees (see the October 20 entry), and that a UCP complaint is pending.
It says Dr. Eayrs advised students of their right to petition the school board under California Education Code § 48907, and that he then received the seven-page Letter of Warning (see the October 19 entry). It says his speech is protected, and that he remains "fully open to constructive dialogue."
It says the cover letter and its attached exhibits were submitted to the Board Clerk during public comment, and that the exhibits and records it references are archived at gardentruth.org.
